My cajun pie’s exsperience @ kate’s was heavenly. First of all the location is the best of all the new trailer’s in 78704 hood.Kool swimming and @ the edge of hike n bike tr. that hugs the eastern part of Zilker Park.Plenty of shaded picnic benches n parking .Secondly,Kate is very gregarious and was happy to answer all foodie Q n A .And lastly the pie’s. The cawfish pie had etouffee sauce n crawfish packed in a fried to order pastry pie crust .Bleudin the same, with a blue cheese and homemade budin mixture .MUUUMM.All for 3 bucks !!! WOW.Kate’s condements allow the culinary explosion to be kicked up to the true south austin HIGH HEATS some of us require even on a warm muddy day.jeff

The pies are smallish so order several. I had the crawfish etouffee which was good. I also had the Nacho-dish (Nachitoches) classic which was excellent. I did not like my first ever hibiscus tea, go next door to the sno cone trailer and get a soda.

being from the hub city i can get picky about “cajun” anything but i thought the bleu-din pie was tasty and the cucumber/tomato salad (sprinkled with tony’s) was also good – it was a perfectly sized meal for someone on a bike heading over to do some swimming but if i was REALLY hungry i might opt for some other trailer where the portions are larger.
